Journal Entry          : Sunday, 23 January 2011 04:48:35 PM

This is the first entry to my journal. A bit late in life you may say, but I say it’s never too late! I hope to use this particular blog to trace significant events in my pilgrim life, not always related to religion but never far from it.

This is NOT meant to be a regular column but could happen once a week, twice or more times a day or as the situation dictates it. It will not reflect just the ups in my life but also the downs and the in betweens as well.

As a start, let me venture to say that I have a desire to research and write – not fictional stories but philosophical reflections on life as I see it. Not all people will agree with my views and quite frankly I would be worried if they did. This desire is hard to put into words, but from within me the need wells up; it sometimes results in outpourings of my thoughts onto ‘paper’ and into my thoughts and belief structures but a lot of the time the ideas just peter out into nothing, only to be re-awaked later under the guise of a different idea or approach.

Another interest of mine, photography, fits in well to this idea of journaling. Although a lot of my thoughts are abstract and not suited to photography, some of my actions and thoughts are prompted by external imagery and this is where photography may come in. Jenny and I are also touring the Middle East and Italy later this year and the applications here are quite obvious.

I hope to gain some insight into my thought patterns over time and perhaps that will further assist me in my philosophical pursuits.

Until the next entry!
